Group Head of People and Culture appointed for Aioi Nissay Dowa Insurance Company of Europe and Insure The Box
Andy Preacher has been appointed Group Head of People and Culture UK at Aioi Nissay Dowa Insurance Company of Europe Limited (ANDIE), which acquired the majority stake in Box Innovation Group Limited – the owner of Insure The Box – in March 2015. In this role Andy will lead a specialist cross-group team to support the business in developing engaged and high-performing employees.
Prior to joining Aioi Nissay Dowa, Andy fulfilled HR positions for the likes of GE Money, Santander, the BBC and, most recently, LSL Property Services.
Andy comments: “Working in this role means being a part of an exciting and passionate team. We’re helping to build the business of the future and in any organisation it’s the people that create value.
ANDIE are the European subsidiary of MS&AD Holdings, one of Asia’s largest insurers. Insure The Box is a pioneering telematics insurance provider and is currently the UK’s largest black box insurance provider with over 3 billion miles of driving data.
“Across the ANDIE group, we’re constantly pushing boundaries and this is reflected in the ambitions of my team. The days of the traditional Human Resources team are dead. Our challenge is to adapt and innovate to remain relevant in an increasingly complex and ambiguous world. “Without adapting, testing and asking questions, we’re in danger of allowing the business to become one of the crowd.
“The business is at a pivotal stage in its development and the people we employ are fundamental to our success. We’re currently expanding our Insure The Box Newcastle office in order to bring the entire 300+ North East team under one roof; ensuring that our people strategy and culture is aligned is vital.
“To support this, my team are taking a different direction to previously and refocusing on “People” and not just operational efficiency; empowering employees and managers to make decisions; and moving from pure HR compliance to building capability and confidence. Basically: treating people as people.
“We are a different business to the one we were two years ago and my ambition is to make the most of this by shaping environments and experiences that enable great people to do great work.”
